You can use Live365 in conjunction with many other 3rd party programs in order to automate your streams or in order to broadcast live. AltaCast is just one of the many programs compatible with Live365. Altacast is most often used in conjunction with a software called RadioDJ, which expands the AltaCast functionality to include mixing tracks, track automation, and allows for a wider variety of track formats.
*Please note: The newer versions of Radio DJ requires the Altacast plug-in module, that can be found here. The AltaCast plug-in is different than the stand-alone version of AltaCast. Read about installing RadioDJ with the AltaCast plug-in here.
Here are the step-by-step instructions on how to configure the stand-alone AltaCast with Live365:
Step 1) Download a copy of AltaCast. http://www.altacast.com/index.php/downloads/ . You will also need to download and install the MP3 Lame files available here.
Step 2) Open your Live365 Broadcaster dashboard. (Login Required)
Step 3) On the Dashboard, locate the Station Information area as shown below:
Step 4) Next, click on the orange “Live Stream Details” button.
Step 5) The “Setup Instructions” window should appear similar to the one shown below:
Leave this window open. You will need to input this information into AltaCast.
Step 6) In the Altacast window, press the “Add Encoder” button.
Step 7) Fill in the information provided in the Live365 “Setup Instructions” window. It should look similar to the settings below. You will need to set the Server Type to Icecast2. Enter the Server IP, Port, Password and Mount Point as they appear in the Live365 “Setup Instructions” window. Press the “OK” button when you’re finished.
Don't forget to add the / before your mount point information. (Note: Live365 currently supports only 128 MP3 streams.)
Step 8) Click the “Connect” button to connect your encoder and begin broadcasting. As soon as you click the connect button, you will begin broadcasting live.
By connecting a live stream, you will override any scheduled Events and AutoDJ in the Live365 Broadcaster.
Please remember that even when you are broadcasting live, your files must transmit the correct metadata for copyrighted content (Artist - Title). If you are part of the Ad Revenue Share Program, you must also manually insert our ad trigger files.
