Mixxx is a 3rd party automation application that you can use in conjunction with Live365 to broadcast live.
The interface of Mixxx is great for DJs familiar with other DJ software. Mixxx is also free and open-source. The Mixxx interface allows for the mixing of up to 4 tracks, well as mic voice-overs and basic automation.
When downloading the Mixxx software take note of which version you are using (32 or 64 bit) because that will influence the type of LAME files you will need to download. Mixxx is available for both Mac and Windows. The instructions below reflect the Windows version.
Here are step-by-step setup instructions to set up Mixxx:
Step 1) Download and install a copy of Mixxx from https://www.mixxx.org/
Step 2) Open your Live365 Broadcaster. (Login Required)
Step 3) Locate the Station Information area on your Live365 Dashboard, as shown below:
Step 4) Click on the orange “Live Stream Details” button.
Step 5) Once you’ve clicked the “Live Stream Details” button, the Setup Instructions window will open, similar to the one shown below.
Leave this window open because you will need to input some of this information into the Mixxx interface.
Step 6) Open Mixxx. Then, in Mixxx, locate the “Preferences" tab, under the Options menu.
Step 7) Locate the “Live Broadcasting” option in the Mixxx Preferences window.
Step 8) Select “Live Broadcasting”. You will see a pane to the right. This is where you will add the information from the Setup Instructions window on your Live365 Broadcaster.
Live365 Server IP = Mixxx Host
Mixxx Login = In the Mixxx Login textbox type "source" (without the quotation marks).
Live365 Port = Mixxx Port
Live365 Mount Name = Mixxx Mount + Add a forward slash "/" before the mount point name.
Live365 Password = Mixxx Password
Make sure the Mixxx server connection type is set to Icecast2, and set the appropriate encoder type, bitrate, format and channels. Click the "Enable Live Broadcasting" checkbox at the top of the window in Mixxx.
Step 9) After all the settings are done you will need to download an MP3 encoder for Mixxx. You will need to go to this website: http://www.rarewares.org/mp3-lame-libraries.php as Mixxx does not own rights to redistribute MP3-Lame.
Step 10) Next, from the RAREWARES page, you will need to add the correct files from the version of Mixxx you had downloaded (either 32 or 64 bit).
Step 11) When you have downloaded the .zip file, open the file and move the files into your Mixxx folder:
Step 12) Close and re-open Mixxx. You will now be able to broadcast live by clicking "Enable Live Broadcasting" option under the Mixxx "Options" menu.
When you enable the live broadcasting, you will immediately start to broadcast live. You will override any scheduled Events and AutoDJ currently playing in the Live365 Broadcaster. Live365 Broadcaster may be used as a fallback, in the event your Mixxx application crashes or goes offline.
Please remember that even when you are broadcasting live, your files must transmit the correct metadata for copyrighted content (Artist - Title). If you are part of the Ad Revenue Share Program, you must also manually insert our ad trigger files.
