Our AutoDJ feature helps to ensure that your station is broadcasting 24/7. If your 3rd party encoder becomes disconnected, for any reason, AutoDJ will help to ensure that your listeners don't encounter silence.
Once you have uploaded some Tracks to your Library, the AutoDJ feature can start streaming music when you have no Events scheduled. AutoDJ helps to ensure that your listeners don't encounter silence when tuning in to your stream. Some broadcasters use AutoDJ exclusively to run their station. You should always have AutoDJ turned on, even if you are broadcasting live. If your encoder connection is disrupted for any reason, AutoDJ will take over.
AutoDJ settings
Access the AutoDJ settings, by clicking on the "Settings" tab of the Navigation Bar, then selecting the "AutoDJ" option.
All of the AutoDJ settings are covered in detail below.
Global
From the AutoDJ Settings pane, you can choose to enable or disable the AutoDJ feature.
If the AutoDJ feature is disabled, when you have no Events scheduled, your stream will be silent. If you don't want to go over your TLH, disabling your AutoDJ and leaving your stream silent will discourage people from listening to your stream.
The AutoDJ feature is a great way to fill gaps in between your Events. To enable the Auto DJ, make sure the box is checked as shown in the screenshot above.
Advertisements
If you have not opted out of the Advertising Revenue Share Program, AutoDJ will automatically insert advertisements between tracks while AutoDJ is enabled. You can choose your preferred advertisement duration from the drop-down menu shown above. As per the Advertising Revenue Share Program agreement, AutoDJ will insert 4 minutes of ads per hour of programming. For example, if you choose the 120 second ad break duration, then AutoDJ will insert three 120 second ad breaks per hour.
If you are on an ad-free Broadcast package, you cannot enable advertisements for AutoDJ.
Track Mix
Choose which Types of tracks you would like to be included in the AutoDJ mix. Track types can be added when you upload your media, or later in the Media tab > Tracks section. Properly categorizing your tracks helps to ensure the correct mix of track Types for AutoDJ. Select the track Types that you would like to include in your AutoDJ mix by selecting the corresponding checkboxes. You can read more about track Types here: Track Types
Station IDs are usually short Tracks which help your listeners identify which station they are listening to. In order for this feature to work properly, your Station ID tracks must have the Station ID track Type. (Read about track Types here). You can select how many times per hour you would like your listeners to hear your Station ID: 1, 2, 4 or 6 times.
Crossfading is an audio mixing technique. Choosing a crossfade duration of 1 seconds or more ensures a smoother transition between tracks played in AutoDJ. Station IDs and ads are not subject to crossfading. The maximum duration for a crossfade is 5 seconds. If you don’t want any crossfading, choose the "No Crossfade" option from drop-down menu.
When you are satisfied with your AutoDJ settings, click the “Save All Changes” button in the top right corner of the AutoDJ settings pane.
